ACCESSIBILITY

Keyboard access information

This page lists the access keys used throughout this website, intended to provide an alternative way to carry out a function that you would typically do with a pointing device such as a mouse.

This web site uses the UK Government access key system and the following information summarises each of the keyboard shortcut commands available.

Depending on your browser type, use one of the following:

A. With Windows, Linux and Chrome OS based systems, in general, press the ‘Alt’ key and the relevant access key:

  • if you are using Microsoft Edge or Microsoft Legacy browsers (Internet Explorer) press ‘Alt’ and the relevant number/letter at the same time. If you are not logged in you will need to then press the ‘Enter’ key
  • if you are using any other browsers, including Chrome or Mozilla, then press ‘Alt’ and the relevant number/letter at the same time

B. With Mac OS based systems, press the ‘Ctrl’ key and the relevant access key.

Increasing text size

Some users might find screen text easier to read by increasing the size at which text is displayed. Most web browsers allow you to increase and decrease the size of text, images and other web page contents with the use of the ‘Zoom’ feature.

To change the ‘Zoom’ in most browsers use one of the following:

A. With Windows, Linux and Chrome OS based systems:

  • to increase size: hold down the ‘Ctrl’ key whilst tapping on the ‘+’ key.
  • to decrease size: hold down the ‘Ctrl’ key whilst tapping on the ‘-’ key.

B. With Mac OS based systems:

  • to increase size: hold down the ‘Cmd’ key whilst tapping on the ‘+’ key.
  • to decrease size: hold down the ‘Cmd’ key whilst tapping on the ‘-’ key.
