The Terrorist Finance Unit (TFT)
|
| The TFT was launched in the wake of the September 11th terrorist
attacks, to acquire intelligence with a view to identifying the terrorist
funding associated with this particular incident. In line with the Government's
commitment to protecting the UK from terrorism, the TFT's remit has expanded
and it now develops intelligence on a broad spectrum of terrorist funding
issues. The TFT informs Government, develops typologies and facilitates the
intelligence flow surrounding this type of activity.

| In addition, the TFT have instigated a successful outreach programme designed
to assist the reporting sector in identifying terrorist funding.
